Presentation

Pole Aqua-Valley brings together a network of over 210 members (businesses, research and training organisations, voluntary groups), principally within the Occitanie and Sud-PACA regions, an area home to one of the largest number of researchers and enterprises within the water industry.

Pole Aqua-Valley’s main objective is to contribute to the rapid expansion of micro enterprises and SMEs through active networks, sharing resources, and developing collective action across the entire range of professions within the water industry.

Through its approach to regional economic development, Aqua-Valley promotes all branches of the water industry. The Pole (cluster) accompanies its members on a range of issues such as market development, innovation, skills development, partnerships and international development.

Founding member of France Water Team

Aqua-Valley is a founding member of France Water Team, a national competitivity cluster for the water sector, alongside the clusters of DREAM Eau & Milieux, and HYDREOS.

 

This national competitivity cluster for the water sector enables the delivery of innovation and growth objectives for stakeholders within the national water industry and also at European and international level, developing an enhanced interface with institutional players across these three different levels.

Strategic themes

Centred on the interactions between global changes and the water cycle, Pole Aqua-Valley is a regional cluster which responds to these issues through 4 strategic themes:

  • Theme 1: Identification and mobilisation of resources
  • Theme 2: Participative resource management
  • Theme 3: Water reuse (all sources)
  • Theme 4: Societal and institutional approaches (cross-cutting)

GOVERNANCE

The governance of Pole Aqua-Valley is composed of several interacting structures.

Board

The governing Board plans and delivers Aqua-Valley’s general strategy as well as the associated strategic action programmes (evolving functions, widening remit, new memberships, budget, communication, preparation of performance-based contracts, monitoring of objectives, etc.).

The Board is the main management structure representing Pole Aqua-Valley. Secretariat functions and support services are provided by the Bureau.

Project Evaluation Committee (PEC)

The PEC, part of Pole Aqua’s governance structure, carries out the evaluation of projects submitted for endorsement by France Water Team, the competitivity cluster for the water sector.

The PEC is composed of 20 experts (10 representatives from the economic sector and 10 representatives from Academia & the scientific community).

 

This Committee monitors the pertinence of the projects proposed, and examines the coherence and complementarity between finance and policies implemented across the regions.

 

Of the 20 PEC members, 10 sit on the Committee, with the remaining 10 members acting in their capacity as substitute members.

Aqua-Valley operates through 10 Technical Commissions which revolve around the 4 strategic themes. Reflections from the Committees feed into and help shape new projects. Their work brings together businesses and academics to construct and deliver a programme of actions and projects for Aqua-Valley.

Each Technical Commission can organise Thematic Commissions or Working Groups (WG) on a specific subject. These Thematic Commissions are complementary to the main Commissions:

  • Water Resources Commission (Strategic Themes 1 & 2)
  • ReUse Commission – Wastewater Reuse (Strategic Theme 3)

 

The Commissions and Working Groups are open to all members, with participation being on a voluntary basis according to personal interest.
